It is one of the richest racedays in harness racing anywhere in the world and New Zealand horses are set to star at the Breeders Crown.
So here is how the Kiwis are shaping up and who they need to beat at Melton tomorrow.
R2
Two-year-old fillies trot, 2.41pm (NZ time): My Arya (6) has been a huge winner from the split of the trotting fillies and colts for the first time this season. Her biggest filly rival is out injured and her wide draw little concern so clear top pick.
Best Aussie: Glenferrie Burn (1).
R5
Four-year-old male pace, 4.28pm: Bit Of A Legend (13) was simply stunning returning from long layoff to win heat last Sunday but draw means he will need some luck. If he gets that, or a strong early burn, then he can make it three Breeders Crown wins on end. Mac Tiger (4) was honest on his Australian debut last week and better drawn so outside place hope.
Best Aussie: Chilli Palmer (5).
R6
Two-year-old fillies pace, 5.04pm: Katy Perry (4) has an enormous advantage with the draws and should lead. Hard to run down as she is better than when she had a good autumn here. Linda Lovegrace (8) is all class and reverse the draws, reverse the favouritism but she is going to need a lot to go right. Can still win.
Joannes A Delight (10) is a gutsy filly who follows through a fast beginner so should get handy but you would want about $10 to back her each-way. Cyclone Kate (5) is the Kiwi blowout hope as she has improved enormously but might have to work a bit early. Trainer-driver combo know how to win a Breeders Crown.
Big Lucy (11) is the second of the Mark Purdon runners but draw doesn't help with her inexperience.
Best Aussie: Soho Tokyo (3).
R7
Three-year-old pacing males, 5.40pm: Our Sky Major (13) has matured into a very serious horse but is going to need to be because he will be giving Bling It On a decent start. If they go crazy early he can still win but a lot will depend on what sort of cart he gets into the race.
Best Aussie: Bling It On (3).
R9
Two-year-old male pace, 6.56pm: Follow The Stars (7) is a genuine superstar who is back to his best. Starts from barrier six but will keep rolling forward and get lead so should be too good in this A$297,000 feature.
His stablemate Kept Under Wraps (4) will improve on his Ballarat second last Saturday and gives Mark Purdon a great shot at a group one quinella to end his very special juvenile season.
Best Aussie: Birdy Mach.
