Rockin Roll Lad, who has come solid recently, is poised to extend his winning record at Forbury Park tonight.
Rockin Roll Lad (R6) is among the drives for leading reinsman Dexter Dunn, who is $10,751 short of his target of $2 million in stakes this season with four meetings remaining. He has won 188 races.
Rockin Roll Lad, a 3-year-old in the West Melton stable of Cran Dalgety, has won at Waterlea and Forbury Park in his past three starts. He was unable to work clear when third to Princeton and Nancy Miles at Rangiora last Sunday.
The Artsplace gelding has thrived on racing and he was having his 20th start for the season on Sunday. He has also won at Addington and Winton.
Dalgety took over the training of Rockin Roll Lad this season after the gelding won a heat of the Sires' Stakes at Forbury Park from six starts as a juvenile for Mark Purdon and Grant Payne.
Murray Brown, who has set a record of 32 wins for a Southland trainer this season, will be looking for his 33rd with Beaudiene Brilliance in the fourth race.
His tally surpasses the record of 30 wins he set in 2001-02.
Beaudiene Brilliance has not raced since she finished second to Borntobeanartist at Forbury Park four weeks ago. The 3-year-old filly won her previous start in May after a three-week break.
Wot The Owl (R2) has been in the care of Gavin Smith at Ashworths Beach since he last raced on July 6, finishing seventh in a claiming race at Addington.
"He came up here for the claiming series at Addington but Forbury Park looked an easier race for him," Smith said.
Wot The Owl won at Forbury Park last month for Invercargill trainer Andrew Armour. Smith has scratched Desire Me, who did not work up to expectations on Tuesday.
Bedlam (R10) ran the fastest time of workout winners at Forbury Park last Saturday with the last 800m in 58.3. Sunnivue Impulse (R3) finished 10 lengths clear of race rival Mum Beat Lyall in a workout.
Miss Milwaukee and Riviera Franco are other workout winners engaged tonight.
