Adventure HQ, a Central Volcanic Plateau-based outdoors activity and transport business, is being offered for sale as a going concern, with its building and a large piece of freehold land, through Scott Laurence of ABC Business Sales Waikato.

The asking price is $495,000 for the 4293sq m of land, 270sq m chalet-style building and business.

"Close to the mountains and lakes of Tongariro National Park this business is ideal for someone who loves the outdoors and wants to become self-employed," says Laurence.

The owners split their business into summer and winter seasons. From November to May, they run a transport service for 50,000 to 70,000 hikers who do the Tongariro Crossing, known internationally as one of New Zealand's finest walks.

In winter they hire out ski gear and sell accessories for visitors to the ski fields. Adventure HQ is situated between Turangi and Whakapapa on State Highway 47. A full inventory of equipment is included in the price as well as a vehicle and website.

"There's ample scope to change this business. Trout fishing and hunting are excellent and mountain biking is exploding in popularity, some of the country's best tracks are on the doorstep."
