What would you do if you only had 90 minutes to live?
Every 90 minutes a New Zealander dies of heart disease. That's more than 5000 families torn apart by heart disease every year.
New Zealanders can help do something about this by supporting Heart Week -the Heart Foundation's annual appeal which runs from February 10 - 16, 2014. Volunteers will be hitting the pavements around the country on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th for the charity's street collection.
As a not-for-profit, non-government organisation, the Heart Foundation relies on the generous support of everyday New Zealanders.
Funds raised during Heart Week will go toward life-saving heart research, programmes to encourage healthy lifestyle changes and helping people affected by heart disease.
"More than 193,000 people are living with heart disease in this country. We are passionate about stopping New Zealanders dying prematurely of heart disease but we cannot do it alone," says Heart Foundation Medical Director Norman Sharpe.
