National MP for Pakuranga Maurice Williamson's global cult following is still growing after his famous "big gay rainbow" speech.
Now actor and gay rights activist George Takei of Star Trek fame has shared it with his millions of social media followers, prompting nearly 15,000 more people to post it on their own Facebook pages.
Stephen Fry has told his 5 million followers he'd like to hug the MP till he squeals, while Ellen Degeneres wants him on her talkshow.
In the speech the MP backs the same-sex marriage law with biting wit, saying he didn't know what the supposed 'gay onslaught' would look like.
"We don't know if it'll come down the Pakuranga Highway as a series of troops, or whether it'll be a gas that flows over the electorate and blocks us all in."
Blogger Perez Hilton and musician Ronan Keating are also now Williamson fans.
