A well-received live version of hit TV show Fawlty Towers - Live is coming to New Zealand - but it features none of the original cast.
Instead, Fawlty Towers - Live - based on on the hilarious and much-loved BBC TV series - features an all-new cast hand-picked by creator and co-writer, John Cleese.
The show will head to Auckland's Bruce Mason Centre from February 3, Christchurch's Isaac Theatre Royal from February 21 and Wellington's St James Theatre from March 7.
Cleese draws from his personal favourite moments from the TV series in this stage adaptation, which follows the antics of Basil Fawlty, one of British TV's most iconic characters.
UK's theSun said the show was "a two-hour romp of high-farce fun and frolics", adding that it was "unforgettable & endlessly hilarious".
The AU Review called it "a show fans can't afford to miss" and Broadway World said it was "a fabulous trip down memory lane".
The original TV show debuted in 1975 and a second season screened in 1979. It is widely considered among the greatest TV comedies ever made.
