Patrice Dougan is the Herald's education reporter.


Patrice Dougan has worked in daily newspaper journalism since graduating in 2007. Working in busy regional daily titles in Northern Ireland, she cut her teeth at the News Letter before moving to the Belfast Telegraph in 2010. She was a finalist in the CIPR Northern Ireland Media Awards Martin O'Hagan Newcomer of the Year 2011 for her work with the Belfast Telegraph. A nine-month backpacking trip in 2009-10 opened her eyes to the wonders of New Zealand, and she made the leap across the world in May 2012. Since moving to New Zealand she worked in online news with TVNZ's ONE News website, before joining APNZ (now NZME.) News Service in September 2013. Patrice is a Newspaper Journalism graduate, and has a degree in English with Cultural and Media Studies from Queen's University Belfast.
