Unleashing the beast within
A New York yoga instructor with a passion for heavy metal has combined them in a series of classes that help people relax and unleash their inner beast at the same time. While not the most Zen of experiences, the Metal Yoga Bones classes are just as liberating, because of the noisy release - much like primal screaming. Participants get in the mood with death growls - a loud and booming "roar" often used in death metal music - screaming and banging fists on the floor. There are even metal-themed poses she invented, like "Destroyer666", or "Corpse Pose". She also incorporates air guitar or flipping the bird in some exercises. (The Guardian)
Vile surprise lurking under the bed
"I dropped the TV remote, which happened to fall under the bed," writes Scot Pritchard on Quora.com. "Feeling lazy, I reached down without looking, thinking it wouldn't have gone far ... cue ... that doesn't feel like a remote ... it feels the wrong shape ... and I'm pretty sure it doesn't have those soft bits by the corners ... No, this is all wrong ... I managed to force myself to have a look ... I'm not sure whether it was relief or disgust when I found my hand attached to the mouldiest, vilest sandwich in existence ... Our beloved dog had taken it there to eat and left it. How we hadn't smelled what seemed to be a combination of death and pestilence with a sprinkling of despair, I do not know."
Online lover's excuse backfires
Police in the south Indian city of Hyderabad arrested a 32-year-old man for sending a hoax email to police about an aircraft hijack plot to get out of a tricky situation with his online girlfriend. In the email, the married man claimed to be a woman who had overheard six men plotting to hijack planes in Hyderabad, Chennai and Mumbai. Mumbai police alerted security agencies, resulting in beefed-up security at those airports. Investigators traced the IP address to an internet cafe and narrowed the sender down to eight people. After examining CCTV footage, police zeroed in on the man, who confessed. Police said he didn't have the money for a ticket, but was too proud to admit that to the woman in case she ended the relationship. His thinking was that if the flight was cancelled because of the scare, he wouldn't seem at fault. (Source: CNN)
Good read: Some good advice on how to live your life by the designer guy who came up with the I heart New York logo. "i can tell you is that there is a test to determine whether someone is toxic or nourishing in your relationship with them. here is the test: You have spent some time with this person, either you have a drink or go for dinner or you go to a ball game. it doesn't matter very much but at the end of that time you observe whether you are more energised or less energised. Whether you are tired or whether you are exhilarated. If you are more tired then you have been poisoned, if you have more energy you have been nourished. The test is almost infallible and i suggest that you use it for the rest of your life. Read more here.
