Independent MP Brendan Horan, who was booted out of New Zealand First but continues to remain in Parliament as one of this country's highest-paid beneficiaries, has come out in support of disgraced National list MP Aaron Gilmore.

Gilmore has been under pressure to resign from the National Party after his boorish behaviour towards a waiter, and after accusations he told the waiter he could have him fired because he was mates with the Prime Minister.

Even the normally sanguine John Key found Gilmore's attitude beyond the pale and suggested he resign.

You know you're in real trouble when our most easygoing Prime Minister ever is not comfortable with your behaviour.

But in keeping with the character of the man, who appears to be an arrogant, entitled tosser, Gilmore is staying on in Parliament to become another bludger and in doing so has found a friend in Horan. Misery loves company, doesn't it?

Horan says Gilmore has been through a trial by media and all he did was go out, get drunk and be stupid.

Just goes to show you, doesn't it?

Key may no longer be Gilmore's BFF but the fact he has Horan as his new bestie proves there is, indeed, someone for everybody - no matter how hopeless the case may be.
