The 2016 USA Basketball team was announced this morning and the team promptly made a tour through New York City to meet with fans and take some photos.
While the 12-man squad bears little resemblance to the 2012 Olympic team that took home gold in London, some big names still attracted hundreds of adoring fans.
Kevin Durant in particular had some in a trance as shown through the reaction he reserved from a group of young students.
Durant along with Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony, are the only two players returning from the 2012 team, with LeBron James and Russell Westbrook pulling out of this year's Olympics, and NBA MVP Steph Curry also declaring his ineligibility.
Kyrie Irving is the only player from the 2016 NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers to be included in the squad, while three Golden State names, Klay Thompson, Harrison Barnes and Draymond Green, all made the cut.
Klay Thompson said that despite losing a number of big names, the team was still expecting gold and would be disappointed with anything less.
