Raw: Iconic Gallipoli painting sold for nearly $500,000

The painting by Horace Moore-Jones, once believed to be of Anzac legend John Simpson and his donkey, was expected to sell for up to $500,000 when it went under the hammer in Auckland on Wednesday. In the packed International Art Centre in Parnell bidding quickly escalated, eventually stopping at $420,000 from a New Zealand buyer.
