A health warning has been extended to Te Weta Bay, at the western end of Lake Rotoiti, after sampling confirmed the algal bloom of cyanobacteria.
Health warnings for Okawa Bay remain.
Bay of Plenty and Lakes District Medical Officer of Health, Dr Phil Shoemack, said the levels of cyanobacteria in Te Weta Bay had exceeded the recommended level.
This could cause skin rashes, stomach upsets and possibly hayfever or asthma attacks.
Samples from other parts of Lake Rotoiti are showing lower levels of cyanobacteria.
