A year after the town's iconic L&P bottle was moved to make it safer for people taking photographs, workers are removing flaking paint and plastering a few gaps in readiness for a new coat.
Before it was moved, photographers had to stand in the middle of the road to fit the 8m-high bottle into a camera viewfinder. It will be the 5.5-tonne bottle's fifth paint job in its 34-year history. Moving the bottle was part of a $300,000-$400,000 upgrade for Paeroa, which included the planting of a lemon grove in the surrounding park.
