The Crown may apply for preventive detention for a Northland man who has admitted raping two women and other sex offences.

Darryl Nicholas Johnson, 28, unemployed of Waiotira, 32km south-west of Whangarei, appeared before Justices of the Peace for a depositions hearing yesterday on a range of sex charges. However, Johnson pleaded guilty to amended charges and was remanded in custody.

Crown prosecutor Simon Wiklund gave notice that he may apply for preventive detention for Johnson.
