A taxi driver has been jailed for three years for sex attacks on two female passengers.
Passing sentence on Maikolo Fonokalafi in the High Court at Auckland yesterday Justice Barry Paterson said it was a "blight" on the industry if women could not catch a taxi safe in the knowledge that there would be no attempt to sexually assault them.
Fonokalafi, aged 35 of Ranui, worked for a company called Cheap Cabs Taxi Company at the time of the offences in March and April.
He admitted charges of indecently assaulting a 16-year-old passenger and attempting to sexually violate a 19-year-old.
