Bus stops
Bus stops for more than 10,000 peak period travellers will be changed for up to two years on June 17 as Auckland City moves to demolish the Britomart bus terminus. The services affected are those from Waitakere City, the Hibiscus Coast, the hospital buses, and the buses from eastern and southern suburbs. Posters, leaflets, and advertisements will let commuters know where to catch their buses from June 17.
Youth festival
The youth arts festival ignite2001 features a discussion about attracting young people to the arts. It runs from 10.30 am to noon at the reception lounge, Auckland Town Hall. Admission is free. British performance poet Benjamin Zephaniah takes to the stage at the Herald Theatre, Aotea Centre, at 8 pm.
Controlling disease
Submissions are being sought on a Ministry of Health draft plan to control infectious disease. For details visit the Ministry of Health website
Road safety
The Mangere final of the youth performance competition Impact 2001 will be held at the Mangere Memorial Hall at 5 tonight. The aim of the contest is to promote safer roads.
Fishing levy
The Seafood Industry Council holds a meeting on the proposed industry levy at the Mangonui Hall at 2 pm. For details check the website at Seafood.co.nz
Beach warnings
Warning signs are up at the Castor Bay and Campbells Bay beaches after leaks were found in an effluent pipe. Up to date test results are available from freephone 0800 723 379.
