Two children die on roads

children were killed when they were hit by vehicles in separate accidents in Auckland yesterday.

A 2-year-old Waihi boy visiting relatives in Wallace Rd, Papatoetoe, was killed when he ran out in front of a car about 11 am, police said.

A witness to the accident said the child was walking along the footpath with two adults when he ran onto the road and was hit.

In the other incident, an 11-year-old boy was riding his bicycle along a footpath in Sunline Ave, Massey.

Police said it appeared the boy lost his balance and fell into the roadway, where he was hit by a rubbish truck.

No charges would be laid in either case.
