Police have recovered 14 stolen firearms, three motorbikes, and various other stolen property after executing a search warrant at a Napier address.
A man and a woman will appear in the Hastings District Court tomorrow following yesterday's police raid which was assisted by the Armed Offenders Squad.
Police said a significant amount of stolen property was discovered at the Marewa address including the firearms and bikes, cannabis, motocross clothing and equipment, diving gear and tools.
The majority had been allegedly taken during a burglary the day before, police said.
A 34-year-old Napier man was charged with receiving stolen property and cultivating cannabis, and a 25-year-old woman was arrested on outstanding warrants.
Eastern district deployment coordinator Senior Sergeant Mike Stevenson said police were pleased to recover the property, particularly the guns, so quickly.
"The good work of Hawke's Bay police staff has prevented these firearms being distributed into the hands of other criminals and being used in further offending," he said.
"Burglary is a serious crime and police really feel for the members of our community who are victims of this (alleged) offending as we know all too well the effect it has on them.
"While our preference would be to prevent a burglary happening in the first place it is always good to be able to return stolen property and hold those involved to account."
