A female rider is in a stable condition at Hawke's Bay Hospital after her motorbike collided with a car in Havelock North this afternoon.
Ambulance and police attended the incident, which occurred at 4.21pm on the corner of Te Mata Rd and Everest Ave.
Senior constable Jason Spence said he was unsure what had happened but confirmed that the motorcyclist had been injured.
A police spokeswoman later confirmed that inquiries were ongoing to understand what had happened.
The sister of the motorcyclist was on scene and said the injured rider was 25 years old.
A passer-by recalled hearing a "loud noise" before rushing out to see what had caused it.
