A Dunedin man who became frustrated at life in the city and shot 20 rounds into his own home has been jailed for three months.
David Crammond used his own firearm to shoot the rounds on August 9, before fleeing to Christchurch where he was arrested.
In the Christchurch District Court today Judge Jane Farish described how Crammond had had schizophrenia since the 1990s but he had reacted to new medication, and had stopped taking it at the time. Judge Farish sentenced him to three months imprisonment, meaning he will be released within days, after which he would be assessed by mental health experts.
