High-profile Napier businessman Nic Magdalinos died suddenly at his home in Napier this morning.
The Paris Magdalinos Architects (PMA) managing director, the son of the late well-known architect Paris Magdalinos, is survived by his partner Vania, daughter Akura, sister Anna, brother Paris Junior and mother Bobbi.
The 36-year-old had been managing director of his father's company Paris Magdalinos Architects (PMA) since 2008, the year Paris died from cancer aged 66, just eight days after diagnosis.
The award-winning firm, which was created in 1989, has been behind several high-profile developments including EIT in Taradale and Plant and Food in Havelock North.
Others include the Marine Parade redevelopment for Napier City Council, redevelopment of the former Napier Hospital site and the airport terminal redevelopment.
PMA directors Andrew Morrison and Evan Davies said the company deeply regrets the passing of Mr Magdalinos.
"The staff and family of PMA are in deep shock and grief as they come to terms with this tragedy."
Mr Magdalinos will be remembered as "an enterprising, competent and ambitious young man who did an extremely capable job of leading the business", the directors said.
"He will be very sadly missed by us all.
"Our thoughts are very much with Nic's partner Vania, daughter Akura, his mother, brother and sister at this extremely sad time."
He was chairman of the Hawke's Bay Branch of Property Council of New Zealand, an affiliated member of New Zealand Institute of Architects and was also one of the primary drivers of lobby group A Better Hawke's Bay.
