A man was airlifted to hospital after being attacked by a cow in Northland.
The Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to Pouto, south of Dargaville, about midday yesterday to treat the man.
The man, in his 50s, was attacked by the cow while tending to her three-day-old calf.
He suffered back and chest injuries after being crushed by the cow and was flown to Whangarei Hospital in a serious condition.
Today, the helicopter was called to Bethells Lake at 2.30pm after a teenager was injured while sliding down the sand dunes.
The girl came off her boogie board at speed at the bottom of a sand dune.
She was in and out of consciousness for 25 to 35 minutes and had head, face and hip injuries.
She was flown to Auckland Hospital in a serious condition.
