Two people have been arrested after a driver fled from police in Auckland and travelled 11km across the city in a stolen car.
At approximately 4.40pm today an off-duty police officer observed a stolen vehicle being driven on Buckley Rd, Epsom.
The officer called this in and on-duty staff began to respond, a police spokeswoman confirmed.
Before police caught up with the stolen vehicle, the driver began driving "dangerously".
"The decision was made to not initiate a pursuit," the spokeswoman said.
"The Eagle helicopter began following the vehicle and police units were deployed across the area."
About 5pm the driver of the stolen vehicle drove into the St Lukes mall carpark.
Police officers waiting there arrested the driver and another occupant.
