A man has been arrested following a brutal assault at a Gull Service Station in South Auckland.
Counties Manukau Police have arrested and charged a man in relation to the serious assault on Herald newspaper delivery man Soane Mateo which occurred on East Tamaki Road last Saturday, August 26.
The attack occurred in the car park outside the Gull Service Station.
Police have charged a 20-year-old man with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in relation to the incident.
He has also been charged with two counts of aggravated robbery.
These charges relate to an incident three days prior at a local takeaway store and another incident earlier this week at the Ormiston Z Service Station.
The man is being held in custody, due to appear in the Manukau District Court tomorrow morning.
The second offender remains outstanding and police are yet to identify him.
The victim remains in hospital and is receiving ongoing support while he recovers.
