Well, well, whale?
There were some confused drivers in and around West Auckland yesterday, as a large truck was seen carrying what appeared to be a whale carcass.
A Herald reader sent two videos to the newspaper saying he spotted it while driving through the suburb of Te Atatu Peninsula this afternoon.
In one of the clips, the man can be heard saying in almost disbelief: "That right there, is a whale. On a truck.''
He captioned one of the videos "Wowee'' and said he saw it around 2.30pm.
Department of Conservation Auckland operations director Andrew Baucke said DOC and police had investigated the video and were satisfied that the whale on the truck was a model.
"DOC and the police have spoken to the man who made the model and are taking no further action," he said.
Various spots around West Auckland have provided perfect backdrops and settings in a number of television programmes and feature films including The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and children's TV series Power Rangers.
