A car has crashed into a tree in Plimmerton, north of Wellington, leaving nearby homes without power.
The accident happened just after 6.30 this evening, on the corner of Cluny Rd and Firth Rd.
Only one person was in the car, and they escaped without injury.
However, a tree fell on their vehicle, causing damage to powerlines on its way down.
A Wellington Electricity spokesperson confirmed they'd had reports of power outages on Cluny Rd, Firth Rd, and Airlie Rd.
A technician is currently on the way to the site to assess how many houses have lost power, and how long it will take to fix.
