Police are increasingly worried about a missing man whose car was found crashed next to a road in Taranaki yesterday afternoon.
The crash happened around 1.30pm on Tuesday on Uruti Rd in New Plymouth.
Karl Roberts, 31, appeared to have lost control of his car, which left the road and slid down a bank, stopping close to the stream that runs parallel to the road.
The green Subaru Impreza was found by members of the public at around 3.30pm, but Roberts wasn't inside.
Roberts is described as 175cm tall, European and of thin build. When he was last seen he was wearing a black beanie, a knee-length dark green Gore-Tex top and running shoes.
He was not found today despite an extensive search of the area involving his friends and family, Taranaki Land Search and Rescue volunteers, the Taranaki Rescue Helicopter and police.
Police said they were continuing their inquiries but as time goes on they are increasingly concerned for Roberts' well-being.
Members of the public who may have seen him or know where he is are asked to call New Plymouth Police on 06 759 5500.
Land Search and Rescue volunteers and police will continue searching the Uruti area tomorrow.
