A teenager has today been named as the third person charged over the murder of a badly bashed man found in a Sumner carpark this year.
Name suppression for Moses Eli Hurrell, 16, lapsed at the High Court in Christchurch this morning.
The teenager has been jointly charged with the March murder of Pierclaudio Raviola, along with Cyle Robert Jetson, 20, and 38-year-old Deborah Jean Tihema.
Hurrell originally appeared at the Youth Court and was given automatic name suppression, but his case was transferred to the High Court and adult jurisdiction where name suppression is not automatic.
Defence counsel Tony Garrett today said a continuation of name suppression was not sought for Hurrell, who also denies a burglary charge.
Raviola was found in the carpark of Sumner Surf Lifesaving Club with serious head injuries on the morning of March 24.
He was taken to hospital in a serious condition but died two days later.
All three accused have pleaded not guilty to murder.
They have been remanded in custody for a pre-trial hearing on August 18.
The case is heading to trial that, at this stage, is looking like starting on February 28 next year.
