Fire crews have cut a person free from their vehicle after a car and truck crashed in the Waikato this evening.
The crash happened on Horotiu Rd, between Blackett Rd and Laxon Rd, near to the Waipa River.
The patient has life-threatening injuries and is being treated by ambulance officers.
A police spokeswoman said emergency services were called to the crash just north of Whatawhata at 8.44pm.
Northern fire shift manager Megan Ruru said two fire crews were at the crash.
"We've had to use rescue equipment because the person was heavily trapped," she said.
The person was freed just after 9.40pm.
