A ute has hit a high voltage power line cutting power to almost 2000 properties on Auckland's North Shore.
Vector said the crash on Lake Rd had affected 1994 Devonport households just after 7.20am. Power has been restored to 1359 houses and the remaining 635 have been warned electricity may be out until 4pm.
Multiple traffic signals are also out on the Ellerslie-Panmure Highway. Auckland Transport urged motorists to follow giveway rules and take care.
Another 1000 housholds are without power in Mt Albert and 30 in Sunnyvale.
Vector spokeswoman Melanie Tuala said Devonport's power is out after a vehicle hit a pole on Lake Rd.
The driver suffered moderate injuries.
Electricity crews were on their way to repair the broken pole and restore electricity.
Last year more than 541 vehicles crashed into electricity equipment cutting power to homes and businesses across the Auckland region.
Vector said drivers damaged 268 power poles, 253 small green boxes or pillars and 20 transformers last year.
