Coromandel residents are being warned by Waikato Police about three men in a ute who scammed a homeowner out of cash by pretending to clean their house.
The elderly victim was at home in Thames when the men arrived at the house in the white ute described as a Ford Courier with a canopy, according to the Waikato Police District Facebook page.
One of the men went to the door and told the victim they could clean the windows and spouting for $280, while the other two men took a hose around the back.
The victim said no but the scammer insisted they had already done the work.
Constable Kym Champion said the victim felt pressured and confused.
"They paid these scoundrels for work they had not done. It was later reported to police, who checked and found the spouting was not cleaned.
"If you know who these people are, please contact us immediately."
