Two men, one armed with a sawn-off shotgun, robbed a Pt Chevalier bar yesterday morning, threatening staff before leaving in a stolen car which they are thought to have set on fire.
Police say around 10.55am on Wednesday, two men entered the bar on Great North Rd and threatened staff with a sawn off, double barrel side-by-side shotgun.
They stole cash and left in a silver Subaru Legacy, travelling westbound on Great North Rd.
The bar staff were left shaken but not injured.
Yesterday afternoon a car matching the Subaru's description was found ablaze in a nearby Pt Chev street.
The offenders were described as Maori or Polynesian, 20-30, about 1.7m and of solid build.
The clothing they were wearing was captured on CCTV footage.
The man holding the firearm was wearing a black "New Era" cap with a white or grey peak, and a grey sweatshirt with a large triangle on the back.
The other man wore a distinctive black hoodie with "The Game" logo on the front. He was carrying a Pams-branded chilly bag, police said.
A stolen 2001 silver Subaru Legacy Saloon matching the description of the car used in the robbery was located in Kiwi St, Pt Chevalier, where it had been set on fire.
The vehicle was stolen from Parnell six weeks ago. The registration number of this vehicle is FTR618. If anyone has seen this vehicle in the past six weeks they are asked to contact police.
Detective Inspector Aaron Pascoe said forensic examinations were ongoing.
"We are still keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed what happened, who saw the car being abandoned in Kiwi St, or who has any information about those responsible."
