A man stabbed during an altercation in Hamilton last night remains in a serious condition in hospital this morning.

The man, in his twenties, was reported to be in a critical condition after the stabbing on Langdon Lane, Melville late yesterday evening.

Police were called to the address after reports of an assault at 10.15pm on Saturday.

A police spokesperson said one man, 29, was arrested and was expected to appear in court tomorrow on charges of assault.

Police said both men were known to each other and no one else was being sought in relation to the stabbing.

A scene examination was carried out yesterday evening as inquiries continued.
