Two men have been arrested after an Auckland shopkeeper was allegedly assaulted in daylight this week.

Two men, aged 26 and 30, allegedly tried to steal alcohol and assaulted the shop attendant at a Sandringham Rd liquor store about 4pm on Wednesday.

Police say two men were arrested this morning, charged with theft and aggravated assault.

They are due to appear in court this afternoon.
