A further seven people have been arrested on drugs charges following an undercover police sting on Porirua Mongrel Mob members.
Six other people were arrested on Tuesday following a lengthy police investigation targeting the supply of meth in the region. The estimated social cost of the meth supply uncovered in the investigation is $25 million.
Wellington Police announced yesterday they had seized $400,000 in cash, two stolen motorbikes, 10 firearms, and had restrained assets valuing $1,815,000.
The investigation involved undercover police officers infiltrating the gang, and utilised a range of tactics such as using listening devices.
Wellington Police today executed a further eight search warrants, arresting another seven people on nearly 30 charges, including possession of methamphetamine for supply, offering to supply methamphetamine, conspiracy to supply methamphetamine, and possession of methamphetamine.
Police seized about two more kilos of meth today, along with a loaded revolver.
Further assets have also been restrained: a Mercedes car, a launch, and a container house near the Firth of Thames. This is on top of earlier seizures of two residential properties, 13 vehicles, two boats and a jet-ski.
The total value of assets restrained so far as a result of this investigation is about $2.3 million.
In their searches police also found a number of safes and a hand grenade, which they later discovered had been disabled and did not have explosive capability.
Several electronic items found in the safes will be examined by experts.
A 53-year-old man will appear in Porirua District Court this afternoon.
The remaining six people arrested - three men, aged 32, 43 and 49 and three women, aged 25, 28 and 31 - will appear in Wellington District Court this afternoon.
