Pedestrian, 18, struck by car in New Plymouth

A teenage pedestrian has received serious injuries after being struck by a car last night in Junction Rd, New Plymouth, prompting a police appeal for witnesses.

The 18-year-old was heading toward New Plymouth around 9.30pm when he was hit by a car.

While the driver stopped and is helping with inquiries, police want to speak with people in a silver sedan that was also at the scene at the time of the crash.

Police said the 1996-1998 model sedan had silver hub caps and alloy rims, and it was believed there were three people in the car.

Police would were also seeking information from anyone who witnessed the incident or may have seen the victim and his friends before the crash.

The victim is in hospital with serious injuries.
