An early-morning motorway crash near Victoria Park Tunnel has been cleared but traffic remains clogged back to Greenlane.

The two-car crash caused major traffic woes early this morning and motorists heading north across Auckland Harbour Bridge were warned to avoid Spaghetti Junction.

Now a backlog stretches about 7km to Greenlane and commuters are being told to factor in the extra time it will take in the slow-moving queues.

The New Zealand Transport Agency said there would be delays as the crash, in the left lane, was cleared.

Drivers getting on the motorway at the Wellington St onramp could expect delays and it was best to avoid using the route if possible.
