Police in Wellington are searching for an elderly woman who has not been seen or heard from since this morning.

Kebai Liu, 76, left her home in Woodridge at about 8.30am.

No one has made contact with her since.

Police said this is out of character for the pensioner, who does not speak English and only has some foreign money on her, as well as her passport.

"She was wearing a light blue top and blue jeans,'' police said.

The missing pensioner is Chinese and has been living at her address for the past two years.

Anyone who has seen Liu today or has any information that may help police is asked to contact police immediately on 111.
