An 18-year-old man has been arrested in relation to a serious assault on a man in Christchurch last week.
Police said this afternoon they had arrested the teenager, who has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The attack happened last Thursday under the Moorhouse and Colombo St overbridge.
The 53-year-old victim required hospital treatment following the attack.
Police said he was recovering well and was discharged today.
"Police would like to thank the members of the public who assisted with their inquiries and helped locate the offender.''
The 18-year-old will appear in the Christchurch District Court next Wednesday.
Police earlier released CCTV footage of a group of youths seen in the area near the time of the attack.
Authorities said the attacker had pushed the victim to the ground and kicked him in the head.
"The victim sustained serious injuries,'' police said.
