A fire that led to the evacuation of a hotel at Auckland Airport is now out.
The fire was found in the basement laundry chute at the Ibis Budget Hotel. It had smoked out the sixth floor where fire crews thought the fire may be.
A fire spokesman said they were called at 8.03pm and 15 fire crews responded due to "the nature of the building". The spokesman clarified this is because the building is full of people.
He was not sure if everyone had been accounted for.
The hotel is on Leonard Isitt Dr.
It's not yet clear how the fire began but the spokesman said it was not a particularly big fire.
The Ibis is about 1km from Auckland Airport.
St John and police were also in attendance and a fire investigator will determine the cause of the fire.
