A Christchurch nursing assistant accused of having unprotected sex with three men without disclosing his HIV-positive status has today denied the charges.
Johnny Lachlan Benjamin Lumsden, 26, was arrested last month and appeared at Christchurch District Court on a criminal nuisance charge that he had unprotected sex without telling a man he was HIV-positive in Christchurch on October 19.
Now, he has been charged with two more alleged encounters in Christchurch, with two other men, on August 15 and September 9 this year.
He also faces a new charge that between October 9 and November 2, he supplied a class A controlled drug, namely methamphetamine, which carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
Lumsden, whose address on charging documents today state he is living in the Whangarei district, had his case call again at Christchurch District Court this afternoon.
Defence counsel Elizabeth Bulger asked for Lumsden's attendance to be excused.
She asked for not guilty pleas to be entered today and that the matter proceed to jury trial.
Judge Paul Kellar remanded Lumsden on continued bail to a case review hearing on March 6, on conditions that he does not use any form of social media, not leave the country, surrender any passport, and to not apply for any travel documents
