Three workmen were hospitalised after a gas pipe was cut at Massey University in Palmerston North today.
Emergency services were called to the site in Fitzherbert about 9.25am, said Fire Service spokesman Mike Wanoa.
Wanoa said a digger cut the gas line, which caused a small leak.
"We were called to secure the area and evacuated the adjacent Massey University Ferguson Hall.
"Three people, all workmen, were transported to the hospital as a result of feeling dizzy."
A St John spokesman said the three men were in moderate conditions.
One has since been discharged and two were likely to be discharged shortly.
It is understood the workers were from Higgins Contractors.
