Tribal Huk Waikato gang leader Jamie Pink has appeared in court charged with possessing offensive weapons.

Pink, whose full name is Allan James Pink, was arrested on Saturday and charged with unlawful possession of an axe and a studded baseball bat.

Pink was stopped by police as he travelled on Cook St, Hamilton, and his car searched.

The 45-year-old was supported in the Hamilton District Court by members of his Tribal Huk gang.

He was remanded on bail without plea to reappear in court on Wednesday.

He was ordered not to posses any weapons in a public place.
