Whitebaiter hospitalised with serious injuries after falling in Taieri River south of Dunedin

A whitebaiter in his 70s has been taken to Dunedin Hospital with serious injuries after falling into the Taieri River at Henley, south of Dunedin, this morning.

Outram Fire Brigade chief fire officer Stu Casey said the man had been whitebaiting when he slipped and fell into the river, injuring his leg.

His fellow whitebaiters managed to drag him ashore, and he was later taken to Dunedin Hospital.
