A teenage girl has been killed in a quad bike accident in Taharoa, while another person who was seriously injured is stable in hospital.
Police said the accident happened at 6.44pm on Sunday on a private road in Taharoa.
"A second person was on the quad bike at the time and has been airlifted to Waikato Hospital with serious injuries."
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the accident.
"Police offer their sympathies to the friends and family of the deceased at this tragic time.''
A St John spokeswoman said one person had been killed.
Another person had suffered serious injuries and a helicopter had been brought in to airlift them to hospital.
St John were called to the site about 8pm, but the accident is thought to have occurred earlier.
A Waikato Hospital spokeswoman said the patient is a female and is in a stable condition.
