A Rotorua motel has scooped a major award at Hospitality New Zealand's 2016 awards gala, and a unique flavour combination has won a national sausage competition. These are just two of the stories making headlines around the regions today.

Rotorua's Sport of Kings Motel has scooped the Accommodation Host of the Year award at Hospitality New Zealand's 2016 Awards for Excellence gala dinner.

Chicken, lime and lemongrass might not be the most traditional sausage flavour, but it has come out tops in this year's national sausage competition.
