Police are investigating an armed robbery on the West Coast.

Three men dressed in bright orange and armed with a firearm confronted a sole shopkeeper and ransacked a dairy and the home attached to it, before speeding away in the victim's car.

The group entered the Mill House Dairy in Westport at about 11.30 last night and stole a large amount of cigarettes and other items. The shopkeeper was not injured.

The car the trio took off in was later found by police on Alma Rd.

The men were all wearing bright orange vests or jackets, and one is described as having very blond hair.
