A housebus and sand-blasting shed were extensively damaged by fire in Marlborough last night.

Southern Fire shift manager Brent Dunn said five crews attended the blaze at Sheffield St, south of Blenheim, after a passerby raised the alarm at 1.50am.

The housebus and shed were well ablaze when firefighters from Blenheim and Seddon arrived.

No one was injured in the blaze.

Dunn said the cause of the fire was unknown and fire investigators would return to the scene today.
