A student has suffered head injuries after being struck with a hammer during a robbery in West Auckland.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attack on August 20. He will appear in Waitakere District Court tomorrow.

He will face charges of injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and aggravated robbery.

The man allegedly hit the victim on the head with a hammer while demanding money, before fleeing with the victim's cell phone and car keys.
