Motorcyclist dies after crash in Auckland's Onehunga

A motorcyclist has died after colliding with a car south of Auckland this morning.

The crash happened on Onehunga Harbour Rd, near the off-ramp of the Southwestern Motorway just before 7am.

The man was in a critical condition after the crash but has since died.

Extensive delays are expected as the road closures include part of the motorway off-ramp, Nielsen Street and Onehunga Mall.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.


NZTA is advising motorists to use the Queenstown Rd off-ramp or an alternative route.



A Fire Service spokesman said the Fire Service had no involvement in the emergency response.

The serious crash unit will investigate the crash.
